The WPK Academy Cancer Center provides comprehensive diagnostic evaluations and interdisciplinary therapeutic procedures for all types of gastrointestinal cancers, all of which are performed by internationally renowned specialists in this field.
Using a collaborative team-based approach, highly experienced gastrointestinal cancer specialists work alongside medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, and gastroenterologists to accurately diagnose the condition and devise an optimal treatment plan.

Lung Cancer
At the WPK Academy of Central European Oncology, esteemed Austrian physicians from diverse fields collaborate to provide optimal treatment for patients with lung cancer, as well as other types of tumors. The comprehensive approach includes chemotherapy and targeted treatment.
The first crucial step involves radiological diagnostics, where the combination of positron emission tomography and computed tomography (PET/CT) plays a significant role.
Once lung cancer is diagnosed, an endobronchial ultrasound-guided biopsy (EBUS) is performed, and molecular diagnostics are conducted externally to search for specific changes in the tumor tissue and determine an accurate tumor typing.
Based on these examinations, the interdisciplinary tumor board decides on the most suitable course of action, including surgical, radiotherapeutic, and immunologial therapies to treat the lung tumor effectively.
Orthopedics
Wiener Privatklinik’s Competence Centre for Orthopedics specializes in performing various state-of-the-art treatments for orthopedic issues, including joint wear and tear, joint inflammation, and orthopedic injuries related to hips, knees, spine, and feet.
The Competence Centre for Orthopedics at the Vienna Private Hospital is a highly proficient endoprosthetics center. Qualified specialists handle every step in the treatment and rehabilitation process, starting from selecting suitable prostheses and utilizing 3D computer models for surgical planning, to rehabilitation and postoperative examinations.
They predominantly employ minimally invasive techniques in the corresponding operations, resulting in reduced scarring, shorter recovery times, and a lower risk of complications. This makes Wiener Privatklinik’s competence center one of the most well-staffed and advanced in Vienna.

Radiation Oncology

Sports Medicine and Trauma Surgery
The Competence Centre for Sports Medicine and Trauma Surgery at the Wiener Privatklinik offers therapy and rehabilitation for sports and accidental injuries of all kinds and severities. Treatment is provided for knee injuries, cruciate ligament revisions and shoulder injuries with a focus on minimally invasive surgery.
Arthroscopy is used in many areas of the Competence Centre for Sports Medicine and Trauma Surgery at the Vienna Private Hospital, for example, for knee, shoulder, wrist and ankle operations. Surgeons work with millimeter precision and the operation leaves no large scars with physical recovery much faster than traditional procedures.
Such an approach allows less postoperative pain, faster mobilization and recovery for older patients, minimally invasive procedures when conventional operational techniques are impossible due to the accompanying risks – and increasingly frequent minimally invasive operations as outpatient treatments, whereby a serious procedure previously meant a longer hospital stay.
