  2. Cost-Effective Solutions: We understand that pet healthcare can be expensive, and we strive to make it more affordable for you. Through our network, you can access competitive pricing options, ensuring that your pet receives the best care without excessive costs. The expense of sterilizing a dog has surged to as high as £860 due to the growing consolidation of private equity groups in the veterinary sector in the United Kingdom. A comprehensive analysis reveals that certain medical procedures in the UK are up to three times costlier than in France, offering pet owners the potential to save substantial sums by seeking treatment abroad.

  3. Expert Guidance: Planning a trip for your pet’s medical needs can be overwhelming. We offer expert guidance and assistance throughout the process by arranging appointments with clinics to make the experience as stress-free as possible.

  4. Customized Treatments: Every pet and their medical needs are unique. We offer customized treatment options tailored to your specific requirements, ensuring that your pet receives the best care while accommodating your budget and schedule.

Regulations for Veterinary Treatment Abroad

It is important to consider the regulations of the country you will travel to. EU regulations for example facilitate seamless pet travel to and from EU member states, including the 27 EU countries, Norway, and Northern Ireland, as well as travel from non-EU countries.

In most cases, your pet can accompany you when traveling to another EU country or from a non-EU country to an EU member state if it meets the following requirements:

  • Has been micro-chipped (in accordance with the technical standards outlined in Annex II of the EU Regulation on pet movement) or bears a legible tattoo, provided the tattoo was applied before July 3, 2011.
  • Has received a rabies vaccination.
  • Has been treated for the tapeworm Echinococcus multilocularis, but only if your destination is free from this tapeworm (applies to Finland, Ireland, Malta, Norway, and Northern Ireland).
  • Possesses a valid European pet passport when traveling from one EU country or Northern Ireland to another EU country or Northern Ireland. The pet passport contains detailed information about your pet, including its microchip or tattoo code, rabies vaccination history, and contact details of both the owner and the issuing vet. You can obtain a European pet passport from any authorized vet, and it remains valid for the lifetime of your pet as long as their rabies vaccination is up to date.
  • If traveling from a non-EU country or territory, your pet must be accompanied by an EU animal health certificate issued by an official State veterinarian in the country of departure. This certificate should be issued no more than 10 days before your pet’s arrival in the EU. The certificate is valid for travel between EU countries for four months from the date of issuance or until the rabies vaccination expires, whichever comes first.

As a general rule, pets should travel with their owners. However, you can provide written permission for someone else to accompany your pet on your behalf. It is important to reunite with your pet within 5 days of its relocation.

Please keep in mind that if your pet is in a severe state of illness, it’s important to assess with a veterinary whether they are suitable for travel. At border crossings, a veterinary doctor may conduct an examination to determine their overall health. If they are not deemed fit and healthy, transporting them could be considered illegal.
