Scoliosis refers to an unusual bending of the backbone, resulting in a curved shape. Normally, the spine has a natural curvature in the forward and backward directions. However, scoliosis causes the spine to twist and form a sideways curve. The severity of these curves can range from as little as 10 degrees to more than 100 degrees.

Vertebroplasty and Kyphoplasty are procedures used to treat vertebral body compression fractures, which are small cracks in the dense mass of bone that forms the front of your spinal column. Vertebroplasty involves the percutaneous injection of bone cement while Kyphoplasty employs an inflatable balloon to create a cavity for the cement in vertebral body.
